BR 0980It’s always a challenge for us photographers to find interesting and unique places to photograph our wedding clients in.  To make things even tougher, Secunda is not one of the most photo-friendly places.  For Ben and Rika’s couple shoot, I went to town.  Really…we went to town.

But then again, with a cool couple like this, I could have photographed them anywhere, the images would have looked great.

Just look at Rika’s dress….it’s hot stuff.

The reception was held in the main sports hall of the Sasol Club.  I must say, I have never seen this hall look so beautiful.

    Dankie Petrus, jy het dit reg gekry om die mooiste dag van ons lewens op stunning wyse vas te vang! Jy het dit nie net maklik gemaak nie, maar ook vet pret (so in die koue). Baie dankie, jy was great.

KM 1560Wow!…what a great wedding this was.  And my couple was hot-hot-hot!

This was probably the biggest wedding I have ever done…almost 500 guests….and that on a farm….in a tent.  But make no mistake, the service and catering was just out of this world….on par with any of the big wedding venues that I often work at.  A big hand to all the people involved with the many arrangements.

Madré got dressed in Appledew Guest House in Standerton…it’s a beautiful place.  I can recommend it to any bride looking for a place to get ready in.

Kobus and Madre, you two rock.  You made my day with the horse and the old car.

WR 205Less than a week ago I received a call from Roelien, asking about my availability for today.  As it turned out I was free and agreed to photograph her and Willie’s wedding.  Roelien mentioned to me that it was going to be a small intimate affair that shouldn’t take too long.  Boy was I surprised when everything took less than an hour….my quickest wedding ever.

HC 24My standard albums have 20 double page spreads but I sometimes design a couple more just to give my clients a choice of pages to include in their album.  However, with Henk and Chantal’s album I could’nt stop designing.  There were just so many good images that could not be left out.

CM CoverThis is Carl and Maria’s wedding album.  The final product will be my biggest, the Exclusive wedding album, which is a wopping 30 x 78 cm when opened.  They will also receive two of my Brag books.

This was such an easy album to design due mostly to the great images we made on the wedding day.  I just love the bold yellow color of the hod rod, which features on a number of pages.

KM 099eI’ll be shooting Kobus and Madre’s wedding this coming Saturday.  Today we did the e-session….on an bit short notice, if I may add.:-)

For those of you that do not know, an e-session is an engagement photo shoot with the couple before the wedding.  Very often, a couple may require photos of themselves as part of their wedding invitations or to have some photos ready at the wedding.  The couple might also want to “get to know” the photographer and his style before the wedding, in order to be more relaxed during the taking of the wedding photos.   I personally see it as an opportunity to build trust and to strengthen my relationship with my clients for the big day.

HC 0968eTwo days ago I got a few new toys.  I don’t want to bore you non-photographers with technical details, but what it boils down to is that I can now take photographs in harsh sunlight and combine it with artificial flashlight.  If done correctly, this can create a truly unique look to one’s images.  Most of the images that is shown here has been done in this manner.  Let me know if you can see a difference compared to my normal stuff….especially the images taken in the grass field.

Enough tech-talk….let me tell you about Henk and Chantal…the hot couple in these images. They were so in love and so easy to work with….my job was just a breeze.  And to top it all off, they gave me a full hour and a half for the couple shoot…my heaven.

I hope you two have three glorious weeks of honeymoon.  Hopefully I’ll have an album design ready before you’re back.

AB 012e-2I met Ashley about three weeks ago at Evander’s matric farewell and I was just dumbstruck at how beautiful her dress was.  Later that evening I invited her to do a photo shoot with me…with that specific dress.  When I made the shoot arrangements with Ashley’s mom, Linda, it came out that Ashley herself designed the dress and that Linda actually made the dress.

That just gave me more motivation to do this Cherish-the-dress photo shoot.  At the end of the shoot we Trashed-the-dress.

CM 1387eHe’s from England…she’s from Poland….they met in Africa.  Today was Carl and Maria’s big day and I was so fortunate to photography this beautiful wedding.

As part of the couple shoot we used a completely custom built American-style Hot-Rod…what a magnificent machine.

ET 1388After almost three months without doing any weddings (winter) I kicked off the new season with Edniel and Tammy-Lou’s wedding. The muscles were a bit lazy in the beginning, but I soon warmed up and I had a blast.

This was also only my second time shooting at the Koro-koro Safari Lodge…Secunda needs more of these!

TM 1268When I was still in the engineering field, I use to work in the same building as Thiemo and Minette and often saw them in the hallways.  When I saw them today, especially Minette, I was just blown away….this was one hot couple.  When I started shooting them together, I soon realized why they are so hot….they are sooooo in love.  And they have been together for a couple of years…..but the flames were burning today.

Thanks you two for being so relaxed and so much fun.  I’ll shoot your wedding any day.

You’ll notice that I have added a lot more images than usual…..I had difficulty choosing.

HM 1082I see a lot of weddings, but this church ceremony was a first for me.  Such a simple idea, but so uniquee, so effective and so beautiful.  Henri and Madelein’s wedding was held on a farm near Leandra….between the trees….under an open blue sky….I just loved it.
By now, I’m quite use to “farmers” being very relaxed and laid back, even on their wedding day, but these two were just putty in my hands.  I had so much fun shooting these two….I’m sure the images will show it.

Marylin Monroe is not dead….and she is here in our valley…at Grasslands.

For a few moments, I was completely dumbstruck…that’s how beautiful Audri looked when I entered the bridal suite for the pre-bridal shoot.  I’m sure you will agree when you look at the images.

Pieter and Audri’s wedding were once again one of those amazing events that I was blessed to photograph.  Pieter and Audri, you two were so amazing…so relaxed…so spontaneous…so full of fun.  Audri…never loose that smile.
